World Health Organization Benchmarks for Training in Ayurveda

Post Graduate Diploma in Ayurveda (PGDA) for
Licensed Health Professionals

This training program is based on the guidelines of the Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH), New Delhi, India (Reference Number: D.O. NO. 480 /Adviser (Ayurveda) / 2009, May 1st, 2009), and World Health Organization Benchmarks for Training in Ayurveda, and is presented by Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA).

Overview: This 2000-hour Post Graduate Diploma in Ayurveda (PGDA) program is for licensed health professionals with a college degree. This program is intended to provide supplementary education to enable licensed health professional to become licensed Ayurveda Practitioners (when the licensing becomes available). A Post Graduate Diploma in Ayurveda (PGDA) would be awarded after successful completion of the course.

Pre-Requisites / Qualifications: An applicant must be a licensed health professional with a college degree and pre / co requisite of modern anatomy, physiology and pathology.

Basic training: This 2000-hour program will consist of 1500 hours of training (classroom / webinar theory and practical teaching) covering all subjects in Ayurveda plus 500 hours of supervised clinical internship training in a recognized Ayurvedic center / clinic.
